Title:The advance and challenges of ecohydrological studies in large forested watersheds
by Xiaohua Wei, University of British Columbia
Xiaohua Wei is Professor and Watershed Research Chair at the Department of Earth, Environmental and Geographical Sciences, University of British Columbia (Okanagan). He is the associate Editor of Ecohydrology. Dr. Wei studies ecohydrological processes in forested watersheds, and has published 110 peer-reviewed journal articles.
Understanding ecohydrological processes at the watershed scale is crucial for managing water resource supply, controlling water-related disasters and protecting watershed ecological functions. His presentation will summarize recent research progress on some key ecohydrological processes in large forested watersheds. It will focus on interactions of forest changes and climate, flow regimes, cumulative and spatial effects, and forest-climate feedbacks. The challenges in those topics will also be discussed.
